95, of The Berkley, 5244 Green Street, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2008, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Newton, P.E.I., on December 16, 1913, he was a son of the late Peter D. and Margaret (McKenna) McIvor. Justin worked for the Canadian National Railway (CNR) for over 40 years, first starting his career on the CN Marine ferry (S.S. Charlottetown) travelling from P.E.I. to N.B. He served overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War, stationed in Belgium, England as well as Germany. After retiring from the CNR, he spent some time with the Corp. of Commissionaires, as well, he was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Knights of Columbus and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #142. Gardening, traveling to their summer cottage and visiting family and friends in P.E.I. brought him and his wife great comfort and joy. Justin will be sadly missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched. Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Eunice “Mary” (McCarvill), Arborstone, Halifax; sons, Paul (Tamara) and Kevin (Aileen), both of Halifax; brother, Eugene (Teresa) Newton, P.E.I.; sister, Ita (Gerald) Smith, Ont.; grandchildren, Jason (Kellie) McIvor, Halifax; Chara (Steve) Mural, London, Ont.; Kimberly McIvor, Montreal, Que.; Daniel McIvor, Halifax. Besides his parents, Justin was predeceased by his son, Elmer (Roma) in 2005; sisters, Bernardine, Adele, Teresa, Eileen, Genevieve, Faustina; brothers, William, Cletus, Aiden and Joseph. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 30, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 10 a.m. in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 3473 Dutch Village Road, Halifax. Father Bernard O’Neil will officiate with a private family interment in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville.
