NEW GLASGOW – After a valiant struggle and love for life, at the age of 75, Dorothy Cox passed away in the QEII Hospital, Halifax, on September 22, 2014.
Born in New Glasgow, Dorothy touched those around her as she spent countless hours helping others through her nursing, volunteering and baking delicious goodies for any cause that was required. A 1960 graduate of the Aberdeen Nursing School, Dorothy spent more than 25 years dedicating her career as Head Nurse for the pediatric unit of the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. Following her nursing career, Dorothy spent countless hours volunteering for various organizations, including the Catholic Women’s League of Canada, the Heart and Stroke Association and Our Lady of Lourdes Church helping to raise funds for numerous causes. Dorothy could play a tough game of cards and will forever be known by those who love her as the “Queen of Queens.”
