Shelley began her teaching career in Charlottetown and ended her career pursuing her joy of teaching adults with the Adult Learning Association of Cape Breton. Many a happy moment was spent on the Mira River. In recent years, Shelley pursued her love of writing with the Whitney Writer's Ink.
Shelley's kind heart always allowed her to put others ahead of herself. Shelley was not only an inspiration to many, but a hero, especially to Lorne and Holly.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and also Shelley's "Angels" at the Cancer Centre, in particular Dr. Ron MacCormick.
"These then are my last words to you. Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact." William James
