It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Edwardine Reid on October 1, 2014 in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her loving family.
She was employed in her earlier years at the TB Annex in Pt. Edward, C.B. Addiction Centre, Northside General Hospital, and finally retiring from MacLennan Jr. High school in 1988.
Mom loved to cook and bake and she loved making big meals for family events or large crowds of people which was evident in her years in the volunteer position of president of the Ladies Auxilary Westside Legion of which she was a lifetime member. She was also a member of the RC Legion Br 126 parent branch serving the veterans for years.
Mom loved to play cards with the girls and bingo. She was an avid bowler and she reached the 180 score numerous times while playing darts.
Edwardine is survived by her loving children, Bill, Lawrencetown, George, Donna (Jerry Rose), Sandra Maxwell (her guardian angel), Pamela, Barry (Stella) all of Westmount; one brother, Joseph (Peggy) Phillippo; her grandchildren, Jason,Troy (Clarise), Tammy (Fridge), Anne(Jason), Amanda, Geoff (Delynn), Chris, Corey (Liz), Graham (Melissa), Erica, Ryan, Candace; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Rachel, Summer, Autumn, Clark, Parker, Ava, Harley, Kelsie and Tyler; sisters-in-law, Flossie, Joan, Zelda and Theresa, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Julia (Guiffre) and Desire Phillippo, she was predeceased by her loving husband, George P. Reid; daughter, Susan Reid; son-in-law, Murray Maxwell; sisters, Madeline Ponee, Jean Miller; brothers, Desire, 'Feese', Andrew, Paul, Peter, John, Maurice, and Frank as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the Palliative Care, VON and county homemakers for their kind and caring professionalism who assisted us daily to keep our mother at home. A special thank you to her buddy Glenda Lelievre who made the best cup of tea.
Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the VON, C.B. Palliative Care or the Red Cross.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of mom's life will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Holy Rosary Church, Westmount, with Fr. Dan MacInnis officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery to follow.
