passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Health Sciences Centre in the presence of his wife Patricia (nee Wareham), daughters Debbie Tucker and Pamela Janes, and his granddaughter Lucy Maynard. Jim's passing marked the end of a valiant fight against cancer and respiratory illness. He is lovingly remembered by his son-in-law John Tucker, grandsons Sam and Callum Tucker, granddaughter Keely Maynard, cousin Gilbert Oakley and brothers- in-law Bert Warr, Dave Pollock, Harry Wareham (wife Peggy and family), sister-in-law Phyllis Whatlley and Micheal Manvell. Jim is survived by his brother Douglas Janes (wife Joanne and their children Ian and Aimee). Predeceased by his mother Pauline (nee Crocker) and father Cecil Janes, brother Ian Janes and sisters Betty Warr and Patsy Pollock. Jim is also remembered as a loyal Mason of the Scottish Rite and Master of Lodge St Andrew No. 1139 of St. John's. He will be greatly missed by many family and friends. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of 4NorthA and to the excellent care provided by long-time physicians Bob Woodland, George Fox and the wonderful staff of ambulatory care at the HSC. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday October 9, 2014 from St. Thomas Anglican Church at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in Forest Road Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre or the Newfoundland Lung Association.
