Passed away peacefully while in the care of his loving family, on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at his home in St. Mary's, Donald Patrick Gibbons, aged 73 years. Predeceased by parents George & Josephine, brother George, sister-in-law Marjorie Gibbons, parents-in-law Alphonsus & Annie Hawco and brother-in-law Leonard Hawco. Leaving to mourn wife Jean (nee Hawco), Son George (Karen), daughters Donna (John) and Josephine (Todd) Squires, grandchildren Megan and Heather, brothers Seumas and John (Bernadette), brothers and sisters-in-law: Alice, Shirley, Ben, Harold, Adrian, Callista, Carmella, Cliff, Albert and all their families, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his many loyal employees. A special thank you is extended to the wonderful staff of the Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, the staff (past and present) of St. Mary's and Trepassey Health Centre's and St. Mary's Pharmacy. As a sign of sincere appreciation, a private donation in his memory will be made to the Cancer Centre. Don became well known to many people during his lengthy career in business and his memory will live on in its continued operation. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's, on Monday, November 10, from 6 - 9pm; Gibbons' Funeral Home. St. Mary's, on Tuesday, November 11, 6 - 9pm and Wednesday, November 12. 2 - 9pm (No Visitation on Thursday). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 13, at 11am, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, St. Mary's. Burial to follow. Flowers gratefully declined.
