It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the death of Stephen Balfour MacInnis of Glace Bay, on Oct. 9, 2014 at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care facility.
Born Aug. 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Stephen and Charlotte MacInnis.
He is survived by his companion, Florence Gwen Cole; daughter, Patricia McLarnon; sons, Stephen and Gerald MacInnis; granddaughter, Amie MacInnis and sisters, Elizabeth, Sally, Dianna and brother, Gerald.
He was predeceased by his brother, Bobby; sisters, Margaret, Esther and Shirley.
Steve worked for the Cape Breton Development Corporation until his retirement. Steve maintained a strong appreciation for nature and passion for animals, especially his pets. He had a unique understanding of nature and the environment and was happy to share his insights and knowledge. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel followed by the burial in St. Anne’s cemetery.
