Date de décès : 14 novembre 2014

DOUCETTE, Andrew Clayton – 79, Villa Saint Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, formerly of Pinkney’s Point, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 in the Villa. Born April 13, 1935, he was a son of the late Clayton and Vera (Saulnier) Doucette of Pinkney’s Point. He was the pillar of his community, friends and family. He was relied upon by all to be of help to fix motors, do some welding, snow blowing, carpentry or general knowledge. A thank-you for all of his time was all he asked for in return. He was a gas station attendant in Ontario at a young age, and went back to fishing when he came back home, building his own boat, The Lakeway. After retiring from fishing and selling his boat, he continued working in general labour. His labours took him to many places in Canada. He worked for MacNamar Construction for many years as well as other companies as a labourer, heavy machinery driver, or whatever else he was called upon to do. He was a scuba diver who retrieved lost items, as well as people, sometimes under icy water. He also worked for Tony Bourque Construction in Sand Beach as a welder. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He loved to pick wild berries, hunting, clamming and other outdoor activities. His four-wheeler took him to many places. Andrew always had time to visit the sick in hospital, or go pay his respects to family and friends who had lost their loved ones. He has gone home to be with the love of his life for over 50 years of marriage, Josephine Beatrice (Cottreau) Doucette of Wedgeport. He leaves behind his son, Daryll, and his partner, Doreen Atkinson, of Pinkney’s Point; his sisters, Sylvia (Conroy) Thompson, Sandford and Leora (Ben) Muise, Pubnico; his foster-sister, Lillian Harvey, Sackville, as well as the Cottreau family. He will be greatly missed. He was more than a friend, he was considered as a close brother. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 on Sunday, with prayers at 8 p.m., both at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held Monday, November 17 at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Melbourne, Father Gerald David officiated. Interment will follow in Saint Raphael’s Cemetery, Pinkney’s Point. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Saint Rapahel’s Cemetery. You may leave messages of condolence for the family or sign the online guestbook at www.huskilson.net
