DEVEAU, Benoit Alphonse -age 93 of The Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 19, 2014 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Dayton, Yarmouth County on September 2, 1921 he was the son of the late William and Mary Rose Deveau. He was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral and veteran of World War II where he was Royal Canadian Artillery (1st Division) based in Cape Spear, NFLD and trained at Signal Hill. Benoit returned home and worked for 38 years for Yarmouth Ice Cream and Dairy, and Farmers until retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed rabbit hunting and camping at Allen’s Lake. He is survived by daughters, Nancy (Mike) MacIsaac; Sharon (Larry) Kroeker, Longview, Alberta. Five Grandsons, Chris, Daniel and Dylan Nickerson of British Columbia and Charles MacIsaac (Yarmouth) and Craig MacIsaac (Halifax), and ten great grandchildren, Wade, Braiden, Melaina, Christopher Junior, Jade, Michael, Angela, Abbigail, Kodi and Kayleigh. He was predeceased by wife, Florence, sister, Agnes, brothers, Adolph, Bernard, Dennis, Emile, Roy and George. Benoit was resting at Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visiting hours were Sunday November 23, 2014 from 7-9 pm with prayers at 8:00pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service was held Monday November 24, 2014 at 10:00am from St. Ambrose Cathedral, Deacon Steve Bourque officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations to Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund, Tri County VON or charity of choice. A reception followed at the Jubilee Room.
