Henry Gossen, age 87, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014, at the Peter Lougheed Centre, Calgary, AB. Henry was born on July 14, 1927, at Neville, SK to John & Helena Gossen. He obtained his 3 year Bible College Diploma at the Memorial Bible Institute, Pambrun, SK. Henry and Eva Louise Stone were married on September 20, 1958 in Calgary, AB. Henry loved being a father, a farmer and living on the prairies. Together, Henry & Eva farmed south of Blumenort, SK for 65 years, mostly grain farming but he operated a dairy for seven years and also raised beef cattle. Henry is survived by his wife, Eva; his children, Daniel & Cheryl Gossen, Diane & Norman Ferrier, Phillip & Christiane Gossen, Ken & Lori Gossen; his grandchildren, Ben, Andrew, Alyssa, Kiana: David, Scott, James: Michael, Laurel Irwin: Savanna, Siara: his great-grandchild, Ethan Irwin; his brothers, Bill & Audrey Gossen, Alvin & Violet Gossen; his sisters, Helen Riediger, Mary & Abe Wiebe, Alvina & John Braun; his brother-in-law, Pete Funk; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Gertrude Funk; brother, Ben (Flo) Gossen; and by his brother-in-law, Aaron Riediger. The Funeral Service was held on Friday December 5, 2014 at 1:00 pm from the Fairview Bible Church, Swift Current, SK with Ron Stone and Bob Stone officiating. “The Love of God” and “God Leads Us Along” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Clarence Wiebe with David Pollard playing piano and Henry Thiessen & Jean Johnston playing organ. “Where the Roses Never Fade”, “Sweet Resting”, and “Constantly Abiding”, were special numbers sung by The Notes of Praise. Tributes were given by Henry’s Children, Daniel, Diane, Phillip, and Ken. The ushers were Gordon Johnston and Jake Hildebrandt. A Private Family Interment was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK, with Henry’s sons and grandsons serving as pallbearers. In memory of Henry Gossen, donations made to Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein c/o International Fellowship of Christians and Jews of Canada, P.O. Box 670 Station K, Toronto, ON, M4P 2H1 would be appreciated by the family.
