CORMIER, GERARD - It is with heavy hearts, the family of Mr. Gerard Joseph Cormier, husband of the late Leona M. (Paquet) announce his peaceful passing which occurred on Monday, December 29th 2014 at the Turnbull Nursing Home, at the age of 87. Gerard was born January 26, 1927 in Richibucto Village, NB to the late Aléxandre and Catherine (Richard) Cormier. During his working career, Gerard worked as a Foreman with the International Fertilizer Company. Before retiring he also worked with Willett Foods Ltd. Gerard was a member of the Knights of Columbus # 8364 (St. Joachims) and the 30-Up Club. He loved playing guitar and harmonica, and playing card games. Gerard is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his three sons; Bernard J. (Elizabeth), Paul, and Raymond of Saint John; two daughters Barbara (Michael) Rooney of Grand Bay-Westfield and Linda Morrison of Saint John. Gerard is also survived by two brothers; René of Richibucto and Éric of Shediac, sister; Leona of Sainte-Anne-de-Kent. He will be forever missed by his five precious grandchildren; Kelly Ann, Shawn, Andrew, Aimee, and Kayla. Along with three great grandchildren; Brandon, Ava, and Mya. Besides his wife Leona and parents, Gerard is predeceased by three brothers; three sisters; and one son-in-law Christopher A. (Sandy) Morrison.
Gerard will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), with visitation being held on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, January 3rd, 2015 at 10:00 am from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
