HARRIS, RODNEY CURTIS "CURT" - It is with great sadness, the family announces the unexpected passing of Rodney "Curt" Curtis Harris at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on December 30, 2014. Curt was the loving husband of the late Olga A. (Whittier) Harris of Blacks Harbour NB. He was born at L'Etete, NB on October 13, 1929, he was a son of the late Curtis and Catherine (Leavitt) Harris. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, he is survived by three daughters: Pam (Roger) Hawkins, Connie (Philip) Lee and Noreen (Frankie) McGarrigle; three sons: Randy (Debbie) Harris, Tony (Sari) Harris and Eugene (Gale) Harris; special daughter: Gloria Thompson; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother: Chatman Harris; daughter-in-law: Tammy Harris and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, Curt was predeceased by his youngest son: Dean; brothers: Ralph, Sheldon and Leonard and by one sister: Louise. Prior to his retirement, Curt worked for more than 50 years with Connors Bros. where he was employed as a Supervisor for the Wet End and Plant Manager. He was a lifetime member of the Brunswick Curling Club where he also enjoyed tending bar for several years. In his younger days, he was an avid dart player as well as a horseshoe champion. He was a member of the Calvary Atlantic Baptist Church, Blacks Harbour, where he served as a Deacon and longtime Choir member. Curt also took great pride in family and enjoyed spending his time with his children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. Resting at the Calvary Atlantic Baptist Church, Blacks Harbour, with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Calvin Hood officiating. The interment will be held in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maddox Hanley Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. For those needing assistance, the elevator service will be available at the church during both visitation and the funeral service.
