On Dec.31, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer, Gordon Doughart, 37 of Sydney, N.S., passed away surrounded by his family. Gordon leaves behind his wife of 13 years Theresa (nee MacPhee), children Carson (12) and Caitlyn (10), parents George and Kathryn Doughart of Vernon River, P.E.I., sister Allison Doughart (Kelly Campbell) of Kinross, P.E.I., father and mother-in-law Greg and Margie MacPhee of Island View, N.S., sister-in-law Nicole MacPhee of Sydney, N.S., special nephews, Sam MacPhee and Mason Doughart, and faithful godson Nolan MacDonald.
Gordon was a talented Red Seal chef with a great sense of humour. His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family and friends. In addition to his dedication to his family and his solid work ethic, Gordon will be remembered for the tireless work he did to raise awareness of issues related to funding of medication for cancer patients in Nova Scotia.
Gordon is resting at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, N.S. with visitation on Saturday, Jan. 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will take place at United Heritage Church, Charlotte street, Sydney on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. Rev. Laurie MacCuish presiding.
Visitation will also take place in Charlottetown, P.E.I. at MacLean’s Funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at MacLean’s Funeral Home Swan Chapel at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, Rev.Greg Davis presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the trust fund for Gordon’s two children.
