Shirley Mathieson (Ward)

Mathieson, (Ward), Shirley Patricia May – (May 30, 1936 - December 4, 2014) - Shirley passed away on December 4, 2014, peacefully at her home in Ottawa, Ontario. Born in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Violet Annie (Brimblecombe) and Cecil Mayhew Ward. She is predeceased by six siblings, Audrey Jarret (Francis) of Aurora, Ont.; John Ward (Shirley) of Bridgetown , N.S; Rosalind Jackson (Vance) of Clarence, N.S.; Edgar Ward (Beverley) of Bridgetown, N.S.; Robert Ward (Shirley) of Wilmot, NS; David Ward (Miriam) of Bridgetown, N.S. She is survived by four siblings, Daphne Rudolph (Dave) of Bridgetown, N.S.; Jeanette Myers (Lane) of Greenwood, N.S.; Barbara Hosking (Peter) of Dartmouth, N.S.; and Diana Bowlby (Russell) of Greenwood, N.S. She is survived by her three loving daughters, Cynthia MacEachern (David) of Miami, Florida; Jill Mathieson (Ian) of Oakville, Ontario; Sally Peters (Craig) of Oakville, Ontario; eight grandchildren, Madison and Alasdair MacEachern, Chelsea, Aidan and Lily Morrow, and Wil, Megan & Ethan Peters. She also leaves her loving partner, Bruce Hayes of Ottawa and his daughters, Kelly Moodie (Eric) & Shauna Fennessy (Jeff) and their children, Kendra & Cameron Moodie and Kayla and Ashlyn Fennessy, who she adored as her grandchildren. Shirley was always ready to laugh with a sparkle in her beautiful blue eyes. She loved her many nieces and nephews with whom she enjoyed spending time. She also enjoyed being around her many friends & family. Shirley lived in Bridgetown N.S., Halifax/ Dartmouth, N.S., Virginia Beach, V.A., London, England & Ottawa, Ontario. She loved to travel, golf, gardening, enjoyed her crafts, a good game of scrabble, entertaining and was an amazing cook. Thank you to the caring Nurses and Staff at the Blood Transfusion Center at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa. We also wish to thank all of her Doctors who helped her over the past several years and her compassionate Palliative care team. Cremation has taken place. Committal will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton, Rev. Paul Jennings officiating. Family and friends are welcome to a reception that will be held from 2pm until 5pm, Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Falcourt Inn, Nictaux. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or donate blood to your local blood bank.
