The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summeride, P.E.I., on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, of Richard "Dick" Joseph Steele of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 79 years.
Dick was born in St. Nicholas, P.E.I., to his late parents, Malcolm and Winifred (nee Poirier) Steele.
Beloved husband of Esther (nee Gallant) Steele and loving father of Blair (Lorielee) of Union Road, Dan (Loretta) of Cornwall and Catherine (Kerry) Avery of Labrador City, NL. Also lovingly remembered by his 4 grandchildren: Brittany, Brandon, Jack and Michael; and several nieces and nephews. Survived by the following brothers and sisters: Robert (Norma) of Summerside, Betty (Donald) Purcell of New Jersey, U.S.A., Charles (Gloria), Marjorie (Allan) McInnis and Peter (Joy) all of Summerside.
Besides his parents, Dick was predeceased by his son, Gordon, and his father and mother-in-law, Nicholas and Lucy Gallant.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Saturday, January 17, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations in Dick's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Parkinson's Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
By family request, there will be no visiting hours held.
