it is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Peinsznski on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at The Cove Guest Home surrounded by her loving family. Mom left Arichat at an early age and moved to Sydney where she met her husband and spent all of her married life in Dutch Brook.
Mom loved to cook, knit, play scat and bingo. She was the playground supervisor at Dutch Brook School for many years. She worked hard all her life raising six children.
Born in Arichat, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Eugene (Briand) Pettipas.
She is survived by her children, Carmel (Bill) Coffin, Frank (Rita), Paul (Linda), Casimer (Carmella), Margaret (Art) Fennell, all of Sydney and Marlene (Dan) Hessdorfer of Alberta. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her sister Theresa (Pete) Pouchelu and brother Joe Pettipas.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Casimer, sisters, Mary Furlong, Toots Fitzsimmons, Sr. Genevieve and brothers, Walter and Fannie. Also Grandchildren Carol Coffin and Trevor Peinsznski.
Special thanks to the staff of The Cove Guest Home for their wonderful and caring service provided mom for the past two years.
Donations in Alice’s memory can be made to The Cove Guest Home.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating.
