DOCKENDORFF, CARMAN JACOB
The death of Carman “Doc” Jacob Dockendorff occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on February 9th, 2015. Born in York, PEI on November 20th, 1928, he was the son of the late Walter and Gladys (Warren) Dockendorff.
Doc was a proud Veteran of the Korean War and was a true Legionnaire with Branch #93 in Oromocto. He was very active in his community and had a major love for all sports.
He is survived by his children, Jim Dockendorff (Anne) of PEI, Suellen Mitchell of Oromocto, John Dockendorff (Tracey) of Oromocto, Joe Dockendorff of BC and Lynn Ross (John) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Chuck, Shyann, Mark and James Mitchell, Nicole McCracken, Susan Hopkins, Nick Hopkins, Philippe Jean and Alexandra Ross; great-grandchildren, Cavan, Liam Cesar, Baron, Christian, Connor, Izabelle, Abigail and Ryder. He is also survived by his ‘guardian angel’, Jean Gaudet; his twin brother, Alden Dockendorff of PEI; his sister, Elaine Butler of Ontario; brother-in-law, Jack Laybolt of Oromocto, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doc was predeceased by his son, Ben Dockendorff; his parents and his siblings, Freeland Dockendorff and Althea Laybolt.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12th, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #93 will hold a tribute at 6 pm. A funeral service will be held in the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 13th, 2015 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Paul Ross will officiate.
