ESTABROOKS, EMILY MAE
With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Emily, which occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on February 9, 2015.
She was born on September 26, 1925 to the late Frank and Alice Crossman; she was the wife of the late Floyd Estabrooks and sister to the late Hazel Filmore and Joyce Bona. She was Baptist by faith.
Mum was a member of the Sunbury Seniors where she loved to play cards, socialize and bring all her sweets. She was an avid bingo player up to her recent health issues and she loved to purchase lotto tickets. She was known for her sharp mind and quick wit. There was no “pulling one over on her.” Mum was a foster mother for many years and ended up adopting two of her eight children. She had a heart as big as the whole outdoors and there was always room for one more at the dinner table.
Emily is survived by her children, Judy (Bernie) Sullivan of Oromocto, Larry (Sally) Estabrooks of Waasis, Joan Estabrooks of Millcove, Patsy Moorcraft of Oromocto, Melinda (Gerry) VanOostwaard of Strathmore, AB, Jackie Estabrooks of Geary and Paul Estabrooks of Maugerville. She also survived by nine grandchildren, Kevin (Tara), Margie (Dean), Jeffrey (Jennie), Melissa (Matt), Robbie (Jamie), Lori (Andy), Jeremy (Robin), Joshua (Heather) and Erin (Dan) and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Robert; grandson, Jason and son-in-law, Johnnie.
Special thanks to the paramedics, doctors and nurses of the Oromocto Public Hospital and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for their special attention they gave to Mum. Thanks also to Dr. Bowden for his patience during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 10 am.
