Henry Reimer

Henry Reimer

Date de décès : 9 février 2015

Henry Reimer, age 87, peacefully entered into God's presence on February 9, 2015, with his family by his side. Henry was born on February 12, 1927, at Herbert, SK, to John D. & Tina Reimer. He received his education at Capeland School. Upon the confession of his faith, he was baptized and joined the Herbert Mennonite Conference Church in 1951. While he was working at the Herbert Wheat Pool Elevator, he met the love of his life, Selma Block. They were united in marriage on September 16, 1956, and were blessed with two daughters, Connie Mae and Jody Lynn. He continued to work as a mechanic at local garages and completed his training at STI in Moose Jaw, SK. In 1962, Henry accepted a position as a mechanical technician with TransCanada PipeLines, which turned into a 22 year career. After his retirement from TCPL in 1984, he worked as the maintenance man at the Herbert Nursing Home until his final retirement in 1992. Henry built many special friendships there which in the end turned out to be his extended family and favorite caregivers in his final days. Family was his greatest joy and his love multiplied with each grandchild. Amy, Christine, Adam and Jessica were his pride and joy. He was so proud of everything they accomplished and couldn't wait to brag about them to whoever would listen. Next to family, he enjoyed the company of his friends, especially when he could pull out his violin or guitar and enjoy a time of fellowship. He especially enjoyed being a member and travelling with the Waldeck “Golden Oldies” and with “Archie & The Boys” music groups. His playing days sadly came to an end due to the increased arthritic pain in his hands. The family always enjoyed hearing his stories from the past, even if they had heard them before. Henry also enjoyed the many drives to Alberta and BC, visiting family, and the fishing trips with brother-in-law, Robert.
Henry is survived by his wife Selma, of 58 years; daughters, Connie (Marlowe) Dyck and Jody (David) Scuka; grandchildren, Christine & Jessica Dyck, Amy & Adam Scuka; sisters, Olga (Archie) Klassen and Elvena (Frank) Braun; sisters-in-law, Bev Reimer and Betty Reimer; along with numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John D. & Tina Reimer; family members, Abe & Adeline Reimer, Johnny Reimer, Ben Reimer, Ed Reimer, Anne & Wes Engel, Len Harder; and numerous in-laws. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kassett and the Herbert Integrated Health Care Facility staff for the unconditional love, care and compassion that was shown to Henry during his time there and especially this past week. Our love to you all. The Celebration of Henry’s Life was held on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 3:00 pm from the Herbert M.B. Church, with Jake Peters officiating. Musical selections were performed by the Braun family. Memories were shared by Henry’s family and by a photo slideshow. The ushers in the church were Ray Wiebe and Leander Buhr.
