Roméo LeBlanc

LeBLANC, ROMÉO E.
1945 - 2015
Peacefully surrounded by his family at home, Roméo Ernest LeBlanc passed away on February 17, 2015 at the age of 69, after a short but courageous fight with cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Sylvia, father to Carole (Bernard) and Monique (Léon) and grandfather to Jérémy, Mia and Niko. He was the son of the late Gérard and Léonie and predeceased by his younger brother Gérald. He is survived by his brothers Normand (Louise), Aurele (Yolande) and Roland (Anita) and his sister Linda (Alfred).
Roméo worked 35 years as a Machinist for CN, followed by a second career at MacArthur’s Nurseries for 18 years. While employed full-time, he also had a distinguished career as a hockey linesman, which included work at all levels of hockey and 20 years with the American Hockey League. Because of his dedication, his passion, his sense of fair play and good judgement, he earned the respect and friendship of many other officials, coaches and players over the years. Many former and current NHL officials credit Roméo with being a mentor, a role model, and call him a good friend. Roméo has been inducted into the Moncton, Dieppe and Memramcook Sports Hall of Fame.
In addition to his passion for hockey, Roméo was a man of action who enjoyed yard work and keeping his house and vehicles spotless. Many hours were spent in his garage, which was a gathering place for family and friends, a hockey shrine full of memories, and also his sanctuary for relaxing after a long day’s work.
Above all however, Roméo was a true family man who was a devoted and supportive husband and father. In his later years, he liked nothing more than spending time with his precious grandchildren. In Romeo’s memory, please remember to love and care for your family and friends and once in a while, cheer for the referees.
Visitations at Dupuis Funeral Home in Memramcook, NB will be held from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm on Friday, February 20, 2015. The funeral will be for immediate family only.
All donations in Roméo’s honor can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice. www.dupuisfuneralhome.ca
