It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda on Thursday, April 2, 2015 following a courageous two year battle with colon cancer.
Brenda leaves behind her devoted husband, Rick; she was the proud mother of sons, Craig (Holly) and Matthew (Stephanie) and loving Nana to Stephen and Rebecca.
Brenda and Rick recently had the privilege of being united with their firstborn son, Scott Chapman.
Born March 14, 1963 in Ingonish, Brenda was a daughter of the late Charles and Loretta Stockley.
She was predeceased by sister, June Beverley.
Brenda is survived by brothers, John (Marie), Stan (Judy), Purcell (Karen), Albert (Joan), Lawson (Elaine), Lonnie (Maria), David (Teresa), Bobby (Carrie), Tony (Donna) and by sisters, Marylou, Trudy (Kenny), Barbara (Richard), Charlotte, Arlene (Craig), Clara (Jerry), Donna (Gerry) and chosen sister, Rose. Auntie Brenda will be sorely missed by the many nieces and nephews, she leaves behind.
Brenda was employed with Boyne Clarke for 16 years where she was most loved and treated like family.
We want to say thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff on the 5th floor, palliative care, Victoria General Hospital for their kindness and dedicated care during Brenda’s hospitalization. Our deepest thanks go to the many friends, family and Brenda’s coworkers who gave so generously of their time and support throughout Brenda’s illness. We owe a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.
Visitation will be held at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth on Tuesday, April 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held Wednesday, April 8th at 11 a.m. in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at a later date in Ingonish, Cape Breton.
