Hervé Richard, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Villa Providence in Shediac N.B. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015
Born in College Bridge, N.B, November 18, 1922, he was the son of the late Raymond and Emma (Leblanc) Richard
He retired from Westinghouse, Moncton, N.B., in 1985. Having had little formal education in his younger years, you could say that “Harvey” was a self-taught man. He had an inquisitive mind and a thirst for knowledge; technology and electronics were his passion. Throughout his life and into retirement you would find him in his shop either working on the lathe, rewinding a motor for a neighbour, or working on one of his projects; like transforming an old Volkswagen into a battery operated car, for our mother to drive back and forth to the blueberry field, or building a windmill that generated electricity to the old homestead on top of the hill in College Bridge.
He also enjoyed fly fishing, reading, and family get together with “old time songs” and lots of laughter.
He will be missed, and fondly remembered, by his three daughters; Jeannette Sears (Mike), Lorraine Leblanc (Fernand), Patricia Leblanc, sons; Bernard and Normand (Nancy), daughter in law; Janice Richard all of Memramcook N.B; his grandchildren, whom he truly enjoyed; Jeremy, Christine, Melanie, Joline, Mathieu, Daniel, Adam, Alex, Corey, and Erika, his great grandchildren; Mason, Jackson and Anabelle.
He was predeceased by his wife Rita in 2013, a son Gerard in 2010, and two sisters; Leona (Valerie) and Antoinette.
Visitation will be held at Dupuis Funeral Home on Friday, April 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. Funeral mass will be held at Saint Thomas de Memramcook church, St-Joseph on Saturday, April 11 at 11:00 am. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery.
