It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Kendall MacPhee, 70, on April 18, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Tillie (Bruce) and Frank MacPhee.
John will be sadly missed by many who came to know him, as a person with a free spirit who did things his own way. His most cherished place of all was his log cabins (the country) in Glen Morrison where he found his peace and solitude and built many special bonds with family and friends. He was an adventurer at heart going on many trips throughout the woods, canoeing down the Mira, skydiving and motorcycling. He enjoyed woodworking and sailboats. Our father would help anyone in need if he was able to, that is certain.
John was a longtime member of Local 682 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, where he travelled throughout Canada to make a living and a member of the Seagulls Skydiving Club in his earlier years.
Left to mourn is his loving wife of 50 years Joan (Zillman); his six children, Helen (Dale) Brampton, Ont., Shauna, Calgary, Alta., Cheryl (Charmaine), Howie Center, Tracy (Alex Pertus), Northside East Bay, Paula, Howie Center, Mark at home and nine grandchildren, Alexander, Hannah, Kendall, Jenna, James, Zachary, Morgan, Heath, Darcy and his great-grandchild, William; siblings, Frank, Marie MacNeil, Mary Fraser, Sr. Helen, Monica Wambolt, Peggy, Sally Hooper; many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Daniel and sister Florence MacDonald.
A private family gathering celebrating his life will be held at a later date.

Joan and the family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the Cancer Unit and Palliative Care, for all their compassion and care.
