HUNTLEY, Robert Harris “Bob” – age 97 of South Berwick, Kings Co., passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Medford, Kings Co., on March 19, 1918, he was a son of the late Roy and Lillian (Sheffield) Huntley. Bob was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas and was a member of the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He had been an active member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch No. 69, Berwick, and member of the Kings County Veterans Club. Bob had worked in construction all of his life and had been employed at Canadian Cutting and Coring Ltd. and at Avro Canada. He loved to play cards, hunt and fish. Surviving are daughters, Marie Helpard and Leah (Bob) Wood, both of Ontario; grandchildren, Bill, Bob, Kelly and Michael; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; brother, Laurie Huntley, Bridgetown; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Mary Viola “Vi” (Carter) Huntley; twin sons, Robert and Ronald; daughter, Betty-Ann; brothers, Bill, Dennis and Amos; sisters, Sarah and Florence. Visitation took place from 1-2 p.m., and a funeral service & reception followed at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, all in the Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Hall, 300 Commercial St., Berwick. Reverend Marilyn Rose officiated. Burial was in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
