AVIS, Kathryn Maureen – age 75, of Canaan, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on May 18, 2015 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth, N.S. she was a daughter to the late William and Mary Natalie “Nettie” (Muise) Keech. Kathryn was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Albeit a bit shy she had a heart of gold and was an adamant fundraiser, especially for animals which she was especially fond of. She is survived by her son, Malcolm (Helen), Cambridge, UK; daughter, Lahia (Terry) Dillon, Cambridge, UK; brother, Peter (Bev) Keech, Yarmouth; sisters, Lucia (Tim) Keachie, Hanover, ON; Jackie (Mike) Jacquard, Tusket; Rozie (Bill) Keech-Buccella, Taunton, Mass; grandchildren, William, Edward, James, and Shay. Besides her parents Kathryn was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm; and her sister Mary. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A celebration of Kathryn’s life was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11 a.m in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Shawn Kehoe officiated. Interment will be at a later date according to Kathryn’s wishes. Donations in memory may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund or Operation Cat SNIP. Throughout her illness Kathryn was selfless and never complained. A special Thank You to the staff of Oncology, the emergency department, 4 East and 4 North thank you is not enough.
