The death occurred at the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Saturday, May 23, 2015, of Melvin J. Arsenault, Anglo Tignish, aged 72 years. Husband of the late Marlene (Gavin) Arsenault. He was born in Palmer Road on Jan. 2, 1943, the son of the late Amie and Rita (Perry) Arsenault. Loving father to Joan (Derryl) Wedge, Tignish; Rhonda Arsenault, Anglo, Rodney (Amanda) Arsenault, Anglo, and grandfather to Madison, Santana, Travis, Michael, Marlayna and Kenley. Dear brother to Theresa (Roy) Handrahan, Lillian (Melvin Jr.) DesRoches, Stephen (Eleanor) Arsenault, Ivan (Linda) Arsenault, Eileen (late Ralph) Reid, Gerard (Eileen) Arsenault. He is also survived by a special friend Marina Ramsey and his mother-in-law Freda Gavin. He was predeceased by his parents, Amie and Rita, wife, Marlene, brother, Bobby, sister, Annabelle and father-in-law, Gerald Gavin. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Road, Palmer Road, for visiting hours Monday 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.
Funeral will be held Tuesday May 26, 2015, at St. Simon & St. Jude Church, Tignish, with funeral mass at 3:30 p.m. Interment later in the church cemetery. Memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society or St. Simon and St. Jude Church cemetery fund would be greatly appreciated.
