GEDDES, Ruth - passed away November 30, 2014 at Beach Grove Home in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She was born on November 16, 1923 in Baddeck, Nova Scotia to George Edward and Nettie (Long) MacLean. She is survived by her daughters Susan Geddes MacDonald (Bernie) Pisquid, PE, Janice Geddes, Mount Stewart, PE , grandson, Jack Geddes (Catou) and great granddaughter, Olivia, all of Montreal, Quebec, sister-in-law, Lois MacLean, Durham, NS, brother-in-law Vernon (late Shirley) Geddes, Truro , as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Doug Geddes, sons John Geddes (daughter-in-law, Noelle) and Jeffrey Geddes and her brothers Ben MacLean (Grace), Lloyd MacLean, sister, Marjorie Wood (Allan), sister- in-law Lenora (Hume) Ellis and brother- in- law Frank (Evelyn) Geddes. Ruth was a graduate of the nursing program at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Quebec. She began her nursing career at the Colchester Hospital in Truro, NS. While there, she met her future husband Doug and began their family and eventually moved to Middleton, NS. After her husband Doug died, Ruth returned to nursing at the Middleton Hospital. Ruth was active in the United Church, an avid reader and gardener. A few years after Ruth suffered a stroke she moved to Prince Edward Island to be close to family. It is with sadness to have lost such a strong, positive lady who in her lifetime suffered numerous challenges and hardships. Ruth was and always will be a source of inspiration for her family.
Interment will be June 6, 2015 at 1:30 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton, NS.
