HORGAN, EVA ELIZABETH
Eva Elizabeth (McDade) Horgan died peacefully in Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital on June 3, 2015 with her husband, Ronald by her side. She was born on March 13th, 1930 in Saint John, the daughter of the late Robert B. and Eva (Gabriel) McDade.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Ronald Horgan; her daughter, Angela Burke (Gregg) and two grandchildren, Andrea and Christopher, all of Calgary, Alberta. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Kennedy and her daughter Margaret of Yonkers, New York; her sisters-in-law Marjorie (Murphy) Horgan and Eleanor (Little) Horgan, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers-in-law Frank Kennedy, James (Jim) Horgan and W. Joseph (Joe) Horgan.
Elizabeth was educated in area schools and following her graduation from the Arts Department of Saint John Vocational High School, she was employed as a receptionist in the office of Lantic Sugar in Saint John until the birth of her daughter in 1965.
A woman of great faith, Elizabeth was a long-time parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. For more than 50 years, she was a loyal member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and also a former President of the Women’s Kinsmen Club.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and professionalism. A special thank you is extended to Riley’s Home Health Services for their outstanding care and devotion toward Elizabeth.
Visitation will be held at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home,100 Waterloo Street (634-1965) on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 12:10pm on Monday and the interment will follow at a later date.
