Passed away peacefully at the L.A. Miller Centre, St. John's on Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Mr. Mercer was 66 years old. He leaves to mourn his loving family wife: Nellie, children: Sherry, (John) Lunch and Harold (Kim) Mercer, grandchildren: Allison (Cody) Parsons, Amanda Lynch (David Russell), Caleb Mercer and Joshua Mercer, great-grandchildren: Emma Lynch and Brody and Paige Parsons, sisters: Belle (Melvin) Lynch, Minnie Peddle, Rita Sheppard, Maisie Smith, Sandra (Michael) Carruthers, and Sylvia (Winston) Hussey, brothers and sisters-in-law: Eve Coombs, Brenda (Leo) Griffin, Johnny (Marg) Coombs, Paddy (Diane) Coombs, Paul (Cynthia) Coombs, and Pamela Neil (Paul Crane), special friends: George (Marina) Mercer and a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by parents: Alice and Harold Mercer, parents-in-law: Harold and Phoebe Coombs, children: Karen Alice and Colleen Phoebe, brother: Maxwell, brothers-in-law: Joey Coombs, Grodon Sheppard, Warren Smith, Rendell Peddle and Lloyd Neil. The Funeral Service will be held 2 P.M. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 from St. Peter's Anglican Church, Upper Island Cove with Inurnment to follow at a later date. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at SLADE'S FUNERAL HOME, CRANES ROAD, UPPER ISLAND COVE, on Thursday 12 Noon - 9 P.M., Friday: 10:30 A.M. - 9 P.M. and Saturday: 10:30 A.M. - 1:15 P. M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Harold Mercer Memorial Fund.
