COLQUHOUN, Mary Goldie – age 82 of Sand Beach Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on June 21, 2015 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in East Pubnico on February 28, 1933 she was a daughter to the late Guy and Mildred (Blades) Nickerson. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. Family was her priority, even being considered a second mother to many whom she knew. She was a pillar in the community and you were always welcome in her house. Being a devote member of the Evangel Assembly Church her faith was extremely important to not only her but her kids who she read the bible to every night. In her spare time Mary enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time in her garden. She is survived by her daughters, Iona (Roger), Yarmouth; Amber (Dave), Deerfield; sons, Gordon (Diane); David (Jaclyn); Joseph (Tracy); James (Jenny); Richard (Kimberly); Brian (Lisa), all of the Canaan Road; sisters, Beulah (Arthur), Hamilton, ON; Carol, Hamilton, ON; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Besides her parents Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Gordon; two sons in infancy; and brothers, Earl and Ivan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny`s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There was no visitation by family request. A Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Evangel Assembly, Rev. Oral Stewart officiated. Interment followed in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or the N.S Heart and Stroke Foundation.
