Amy Lockhart (Boyd)

Amy Lockhart (Boyd)

LOCKHART (BOYD), Amy Bernadine - March 19, 1927 to April 6, 2015 - Amy passed away quietly in her sleep on Easter morning, April 6, 2015 in Kelowna BC just over 2 weeks past her 88th birthday, finally released from her growing dementia and physical incapacities. Amy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Nancy (Gord); son, Harley (Dale); four grandchildren Matt, Maria, Steven, and Jake (Madi), sisters Lillian Hergett and Margaret (Lou) Nowlan, brothers Eric (Mattie), Gordon (Eileen), Harold (Nina) and Blair (Karen) Boyd. She has two great grandchildren Sam and Emma that will surely miss making memories with Grammie. She was predeceased by her loving husband Harley (Pop) and sisters Christina (Susie) Greenough and Patricia Lunn. Having accompanied Pop during his military career, she experienced life from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Germany and back to Nova Scotia. She often claimed she “never lived anywhere she didn’t like”. She accepted life as it came with a determination to make the best of it. Amy liked to be in control, even when those under control (Pop) were not aware. She was energized by being with people which, along with her subtle sense of humour, served her well as Greenwood Sears manager for many years. She loved her friends in the Kingston Lionettes, her painting classes, her bridge group, her "Red Hatters" and her church. Amy and Pop moved to British Columbia in June 2008 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was never able to make that one last trip home to see her beloved family and friends again. In her last few years, especially after Pop died (July 2009), she often said she had been everywhere she wanted to go and had done everything she wanted to do. Caring for him had been such a passion, her reason to be was depleted by his loss. She will be remembered as a loving caregiver to everyone/anyone who came within her circle. A memorial service for Amy and Pop will be held at a time (to be announced in a future obituary) on July 25, 2015 at Kingston United Church, Kingston, NS with Rev. John Boyd (her nephew) officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
