BROWN, JOHN "JACK" FRANCIS
It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Francis Brown of Saint John, beloved husband of Lois Mary (Biddiscombe) Brown announces his passing, which occurred peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Saint John Regional Hospital with family at his side. Born in Saint John on September 13, 1920, he was the son of the late G. William "Bill" and Agnes (Foley) Brown.
During World War II Jack served in the Royal Canadian Navy and prior to his retirement he was employed as a Customs Officer with Canada Customs, retiring on September 13, 1985 with over 40 years of dedicated service. He devoted his life to taking care of his family and treasured the times spent with those he loved. Jack was a devote Catholic and took great comfort in his faith. He was a true gentleman who always extended a helping hand to anyone in need. Jack was an avid reader and gardener who also enjoyed horse racing and all sports, especially baseball. He will lovingly be remembered as a devoted husband, family man and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his cherished wife of 61 years, Jack is also survived by his children, Paul Brown of Saint John, Mike Brown (Leah) of Mahone Bay, NS and Sharon Sudsbear (Tom) of Oromocto; brother, Mike Brown of Saint John; sisters, Olive Brown of Saint John and Margaret McGarrity of Peterborough, ON; special grandchildren, Victoria "Vicky", Grant, Catherine and Adam; precious great-granddaughter, Marlee; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, William "Bill" and Patrick "Pat"; as well as sisters, Constance "Connie", Rhona, Eileen, Elizabeth "Betty" and Mary.
Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965) with visiting on Friday, July 3, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
