It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Wallace, age 83, on July 18, 2015 at home.
Born in Ingonish Beach to John and Marcella Whitty, Wallace was a loving father and 'Grampy' who will be deeply missed. He was a hard working fisherman known for his great sense of humour and heart of gold. He was beloved in the community for his detailed and animated story telling and honest demeanor. In his younger years Wallace was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and playing hockey. His daily visits were cherished by his family and friends and he leaves behind a great void.
Wallace was predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Joan Marie and a son, Donnie.
He is survived by his children, Debbie (James), Chester (Susan), Freeman (Roxanne), Doreen (Mike), Danita (Robert), Andy; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Wallace was also predeceased by brothers, Hector, Harry, Russell, sisters, Florence and Kaye and grandsons, Ryan and Paul.
He is survived by siblings, Will Tom, Earl, Timmy, Bobby and Greta. Wallace is also survived by his dear friend Shirley Smith.
Visitation for Wallace will be held at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Ingonish on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday 1-3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Friday at 4 p.m. at St. Peters Church, Ingonish with reception to follow.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the cemetery fund.
