Kathleen (Hill) Lewis

Lieu de naissance : Sydney

Lieu de décès : Sydney
Date de décès : 4 août 2015

It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear Kathleen on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital An Cala Unit, after a courageous 13 year battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of Margaret (Nicholson) and the late Hanson "Poppa Doo" Hill. Kathleen graduated from Riverview Rural High School in 1983 and from UCCB in 1987 with a diploma in Business Management.
Family was of the utmost importance to Kathleen. She was very proud of her daughters and the young women they have become. She and her husband Eric had a special bond that saw them through their 27 years of marriage. Her 4-legged “children” were extra special to her giving her many hours of pleasure. Her little boy Chaika always put a smile on her face. In addition to her devotion to family, the management of Alderdale Greens Golf Course was a huge part of her life. With Eric at her side, it was a dream they built together.
Kathleen had a zest for life. She put her whole heart and soul into every endeavor. She was a kind and caring individual with a strong work ethic. She had a mischievous side that resulted in practical jokes when you least expected it. She and her sidekick Susan could be found causing havoc on any occasion.
Kathleen had a passion for everything near and dear to her heart. She was an avid Eagles fan having season passes for many years. She enjoyed golfing and the outdoors. It was extra special when she shared these activities with her brothers. In recent months her bird feeders gave her great pleasure. Capturing memories through her family photos was a hobby she always loved.
Her diagnosis with cancer made her stronger in many ways. Whenever she had a few good days or good weeks, she never passed up the opportunity to try new things. She enjoyed travelling near and far. She relished her trips to New Glasgow with Susan and her family trips to Florida. Her visits to Toronto to see Wes were special as well as her trips to Las Vegas, where she thoroughly enjoyed all the entertainment.
Besides her mother, Margaret and her stepdad, Colin Beaton; Kathleen is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Eric; their daughters, Leah, Masstown, Lindsey, Point Edward, Arielle, Coxheath. She is also survived by her siblings, Alex (Colleen), Wes (Nancy), Susan (Gordie), Gerald (Valerie), Rooster (Sharon), Peter (Nicole) and many nieces and nephews as well as her beloved pets, Chaika and Skittles.
Besides her father, she was predeceased by her sister in infancy, Darlene.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow service.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund or Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
