Frank Louis Fitch - 91, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at home. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late John and Annie (Legge) Fitch. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. He was retired from Canada Post after 35 years and was the last survivor of the original five letter carriers in Kentville. He was a member of the Kentville United Baptist Church, where he was active with the choir and was also a member of the Dukes of Kent, SPEBSQSA (Barbershoppers). He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed bowling and painting, and was instrumental in the organizing of the first minor baseball and hockey organizations in Kentville. He also enjoyed being a projectionist for the Valley Drive-In, Cambridge and the Paramount Theatre, Kentville. Frank was a humble, gentle and kind man who loved all his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Freda (Cook) (Bishop); a daughter, Judy Fitch, Dartmouth; a son, Don (Carmel), Moncton; two step daughters, Judy (Allan) Kennedy, Truro; Paula (Chris) Outhouse, Tiverton; a step son, Doug (Cathy) Bishop, Idaho; two brothers, Bob (Muriel), Kentville; Art (Vera), Kentville; three grandchildren, Stephen, Robert and Amy; a great grandson, Adam; nine step grandchildren, Sarah, Allison, Rhonda, Robert, Patrick, Nicholas, Keenan, Hannah, Samuel, and five step great grandchildren; many extended family members, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jennie (Fraser); two sisters, Eleanor (Harvey) MacLeod and Stella (Manning) Legge; a brother, George (Marge). Cremation has taken place. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, Reverend Devin Johnstone officiating. A reception followed in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Kidney Foundation or the charity of your choice.
