Allister Norman MacAulay, 95 of Upper Prince St., Sydney passed away Aug. 8, 2015 at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Effie (MacQueen) MacAulay.
Mr. MacAulay is survived by his son Malcolm 'Sonny' and daughter-in-law, Becky; grandchildren, Cathy and Allister (Jen); great-grandchildren, Shawn, Thomas and Sarah; great-great-grandson, Mason; brother, Edward, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Thelma (Huett); sisters, Annie and Sadie; brothers, Malcolm, Donald and Aneas.
Allister was a ferrier in his younger days alongside his father at Central Horse shoeing. He was involved in harness racing, having driven his first horse, Red Wing, in North Sydney in 1933.
Allister worked for over 46 years at the Sydney Steel, in the mechanical department.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bob Lyle officiating.
