NORTHRUP, GARDA
With heavy hearts the family of Garda Ellen Northrup, age 85, wife of the late Claude “Bud” F. Northrup, of Sussex, NB, announce her death which occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on October 20, 2015. Born in Berwick, NB, on April 3, 1930, she was a daughter of the late John and Stella (Adair) Buchanan.
Garda is survived by her son, Jack and Mary Northrup of Lower Sackville, NS; daughters: Judy Northrup of Fredericton, Wendy Northrup of Sussex Corner, Trudy and Mike Flannery of Fredericton and Pamela and Glendon Tower of Carsonville; grandchildren: Erica Northrup, Michael, Shawn and Brittany Flannery and Jacklyn Tower; great-grandchildren: Mahaily, Kristen, Haylee, Avery and Owen; sisters-in-law, Fern and Mabel Buchanan.
Besides her parents and husband, Garda was predeceased by her brothers: Otty, Bud, Raymond and Harvey Buchanan; and sister Verna Jones.
Garda was a loving mother who devoted her life to family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. G. Haines and staff of the Mill Cove Nursing Home, staff of Oromocto Hospital, Dr. Rene Boisvert, and staff of Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for all of the loving care provided. Thank you to Sandra Hayes (RN) for the care and compassion you showed towards Garda.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. As per Garda’s request, there will be no funeral service held. Interment will take place at Coles Island United Baptist Cemetery on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2:00pm. A celebration of Garda’s life will follow at the Coles Island Lions Club Hall, Coles Island, NB, from 2:30 to 4:30pm, all are welcome.
Memorial donations to the Coles Island United Baptist Cemetery, Mill Cove Nursing Home or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
