We the family of Kathryn MacLeod, 77, regret to announce her passing on Nov. 13, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Kay was the daughter of the late Clarence and Agnes MacPherson.
In the 1960s Kay worked for Air Canada, then went on to work for the York Regional School Board. She volunteered her Saturday afternoons to work in the gift shop at the York Regional hospital in Newmarket. Upon moving back home to Cape Breton she worked until her retirement for Addiction Services. An avid reader, she loved her Friday trips to the library in Sydney. She also made and donated over 100 blankets to the neo-natal unit at the Cape Breton Regional hospital, she also volunteered at the Every Woman's Center and donated her time to work the Salvation Army kettles at Christmas time .Kay was an avid sports fan, who loved her Boston Bruins, and of course Bobby Orr.
Kay is survived by her son David (Heather Rudderham) MacLeod, also grandchildren Hayley, James and Samantha.
Besides her parents, Kay is predeceased by her husband George MacLeod.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. In the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
