It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother and grandmother at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, with her family and dear friend, Ruth Ann MacLeod by her side.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late John Munroe and Lena (MacDonald) MacLeod.
She moved to Sydney at a young age, and was employed at Sears for many years.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Helen is survived by her five children, Nancy (Wayne), Margo (Richard), Alan (Helen), Scott (Linda), Lori (Gary); her 10 wonderful grandchildren, Jennifer, Adam, Andrea, Aaron (Lisa), Dallas, Scottie, Allie, Jill (Dave), Nicole, and Kim; two great-grandchildren, Danica and Blakely; her special nephew, Graham Menzies, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Neil MacDonald, two children in infancy, Jeffery and Wendy, sisters, Mary, Chris and Donalda and brother, Murdo.
Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Steelworkers Lane, Harbourstone for the care and compassion given to our mother during her stay there, also, thanks to the staff of Valley Vista View, Stellarton for your care.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with a celebration of life taking place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow.
