SMITH, MARGARET
Margaret M. Smith of Waterville passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, NB. She was born in Beverly, Massachusetts on August 13, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Frederick and Ruby Cohoon.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by an infant brother, Gerald, and a sister, Lois Coleman.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Rev. Fred Smith of Waterville; children, Kevin (Deborah) Smith of Fredericton, Karen (Allen) Prosser of Fort Kent, ME, David (Angela) Smith of Rock Hill, SC, Debbie (Roger) Kierstead of Fredericton, Daniel, (Heather) Smith of Holden, ME; “adopted” children Tim Smith, April Orser, Siew Lan Mulligan, Robin Wilson, Sandy Macumber, Tong and Franklyn Chen; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces, brothers-and-sisters-in-law.
Marg was a beloved wife, devoted mother, special aunt, adopted mother and treasured friend to many. She had such a heart for people and her greatest joy was encouraging people, young and old, in their walk with Christ. She loved to study the Bible and share her understanding and life experiences with the people God brought across her path. She was always generous with her time, her resources and had great compassion for people of all walks of life. She was a wonderfully supportive wife of her husband of 60 years and took great joy in spending time with all her children, grandchildren and “adopted” children. She was a woman of great faith, prayer, perseverance and hope and she is loved by all who have had the blessing of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 25th at the Britton Funeral Home, 2 High Street, Hartland from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be on Thursday, November 26th at 3:00 p.m. from the Hartland Baptist Church, with Pastor Doug Cook officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hartland.
