Lieu de décès : Falmouth
Date de décès : 3 décembre 2015

McKAY, Christine Margaret, age 77, of Brooklyn, Hants Co., passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Thursday, December 3, 2015, at the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, where she was a resident for the past 7 years. Born on January 18, 1938, in Wolfville, Kings Co, she was the daughter of the late Simon Sabean and Greta (Hake) DeCoste. Chris spent her working career in administrative positions for various companies but her most important role was as a devoted wife and loving mother, a wonderful friend and sister. She adored her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them, giving hugs and kisses and always making them feel like they were “Grams”. She was an avid baker, spending every Sunday, after church, baking pies, cookies and squares for her family. She loved the special meaning of Christmas, it being her favorite time of the year to spend with her family and friends. She always made sure there were enough Christmas goodies to last throughout the holidays for family, and for friends who always stopped by. One of her favorite pastimes was reading, which is evident by the hundreds of books on her book shelves. She loved flowers (especially carnations), loved to sew and she received great joy from feeding birds. Over the years she was an avid curler and, in her later years, she took an interest in bowling. She also took great pleasure and pride in being a member of the Anglican Guild. Chris wrote a letter to her family before Alzheimer’s took her memories from her. She ended the letter by saying, “I love my family and my memories of us are tucked in albums so dear. I love coffee before bedtime with my husband by my side. I love to be with friends and laugh and feel.” Chris is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gervaise “Chook” Warren McKay, Brooklyn; her children, Warren (Aggie), Tignish, PE; Raymond, Fort McMurray, AB; Todd (Sheila), Grand Pré; Jane (Brian) Corkum, Halifax; grandchildren, Shana-Lynn, Tyler, Denise, LeeAnn, Joseph, Alanna, Connor, Nathan and David; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Leonard (Kathleen) Hake; Fred (Carol) Sabean; Bill (Louise) Sabean; sisters, Caroline (George) Haines; Elaine (Jim) Bonnyman; Debbie (Garnet) Gibson; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Beth Denise McKay. Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Tuesday, December 8, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. E. E. Hill officiated, assisted by Marie MacDonald, followed by a reception in the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Brooklyn. Donations in memory of Christine may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice. To add your condolences click on Contribute at, www.lindsaysfuneralhome.com
