Marion Laura Tucker

Date de naissance : 3 décembre 1930

Date de décès : 16 décembre 2015

Marion Laura Tucker, born December 3, 1930, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2015 at the Health Sciences Complex in St. John's after facing many health challenges throughout her life with great strength, determination and Faith in Christ. Her loving and devoted husband Jack was by her side throughout and at her time of passing. Marion grew up in St. John's and was very involved with the Salvation Army as both a soldier and a songster. She often said these were some of the happiest times of her life. Marion and Jack married on November 4, 1954, and after living in Gander and North Sydney, they settled back in St. John's where they raised their family of three sons; Dwight, Derrick, and Dean. She was a dedicated wife and mother and took great joy in looking after all her "boys". Marion and Jack retired in 1990 and spent many enjoyable years in St. John's and St. Jones Within with family and friends. The freedom of retirement gave them many opportunities to travel including visiting their sons in Western Canada and the Western U.S. Throughout her life Marion greatly enjoyed her time spent gardening, reading, knitting and partaking in other creative crafts. In her later years she was also a member of the Salvation Army Home League which provided her with many fond memories. Marion will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years Jack Tucker; her three sons Dwight (Claudine Dessens) Tucker, Derrick (Renee Richter) Tucker and Dean (Kathy) Tucker, and two grandchildren Austin Pisko and Hannah Tucker. Marion is survived by her brothers Harry (Flo) Downey, Doug (Ruth) Downey, sister Rowie Hess, brothers-in-law Silas (Pat) Tucker, Oliver (Janet) Tucker, sisters-in-law Norma (Everett) Vey, Cynthis (Tom) Hogan, Mary Bentley, Geneva Tucker and many herished nieces, nephews and their families. Marion was pre-deceased by her father Roland Hutchings, her mother Caroline Downey and her step-father Allison Downey. Visitations were held at Barrett's Funeral Home 328 Hamilton Ave, on Saturday, December 19 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, December 20 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A service took place at Barrett's Funeral Home on Monday, December 21 at 11:00 a.m. In memoriam, contributions may be made to The Salvation Army St. John's Glenbrook Lodge for Senior Citizens.
