Edith Sharon (McCarthy) Friesen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the Cypress Regional Hospital with her family at her side. Sharon peacefully entered into the arms of her personal Saviour, Jesus Christ, on December 10, 2015, at the age of 72, after a brief battle with cancer. Her Memorial Service was held on Friday December 18, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. from the Alpine Church of God, Swift Current, with Reverend Alex Allan officiating. The music was performed by Sharon Penny and Roxane Funk a solo and Power Point tribute were presented by Brenda Sebo and a musical presentation was performed by Janet Friesen and Diedra Whitella, eulogy presented by Sergeant Ryan Sebo. The Urn Bearers were her sons, Mike and Robert Friesen. The Life Tributes were presented by her grandsons, Master Corporal Matthew Sebo and Shane Friesen. The ushers were her grandsons, Sergeant Ryan Sebo, Master Corporal Matthew Sebo and Brendan Friesen. Honorary Pallbearers were all who shared in her life. Sharon was born on October 19, 1943 at Clearwater JCT, Tuberose SK. Sharon lived briefly on the farm south east of Kyle. Her parents later moved to Swift Current where she attended school at Elmwood Elementary School. She was united in marriage to George Friesen on October 19, 1960 at Swift Current SK. They made their homes in Webb, Gull Lake and Swift Current. Sharon was a passionate homemaker and loved her time caring for her family. She did work briefly at the Gull Lake Nursing Home but soon found herself missing being at home. Sharon also enjoyed crocheting and reading and absolutely loved living on the acreage and working in her garden. Sharon is survived by her husband, George; children, Brenda (Gerald) Sebo, Robert Friesen (Giselle Mourre), Tracy Hammett (Jason Looker), Mike and Janet Friesen; grandchildren, Amber (Shaun) Ring, Sergeant Ryan (Kelsey) Sebo, Master Corporal Matthew (Sarah) Sebo, Tay-Lynn Friesen, Chantel (Mike) Wychopen, Brendan Friesen, Sarah Hammett (Trevor Jones), Kyle Hammett (Cassandra Augustine), Ross Whitell, Diedra Whitell, Trina Friesen and Shane Friesen; by great-grandchildren, Eden Ring, Gabriel Sebo, Corbin, Kyra and Kristen Friesen, Kaidyn, Paetyn, and Westyn Wychopen and Amaris Hammett; by brother, Robert (Dolores) McCarthy; brother-in-laws, Herman (Sandy) Friesen, Clarence (Susan) Friesen, Harvey Friesen, Pete Thiessen and Ivan Stevens; by sister-in-laws, Martha (Dave) Neufeld and Keitha Friesen; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Joesph and Esther McCarthy; her infant son, Douglas William Friesen; brother, George McCarthy; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Helen Friesen; brother-in-law, Ed Friesen; and sister-in-laws, Irene Friesen, Lillian Thiessen and Doris Stevens. Sharon will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
