Margaret passed away peacefully in Gibsons.
Predeceased by her brother John (2007) and husband Jim (2009).
Margaret was born in Delia, Alberta, one of three children, to Lucy (nee Ponsford) and Dr. Albert Kydd where her father carried out a general medical practice. The family moved to Lytton B. C. (1928 – 1933) and settled in Marpole in 1935. Margaret graduated from Magee High School and attended VGH School of Nursing for her RN (1944) then UBC where she obtained her nursing degree. After graduating, Margaret married Jim, her high school sweetheart, and raised two children, daughter Kathie and son Bruce. The family lived in the Marpole area until 1962, then Edmonton and Toronto, 1963 to 1971, returning to live in Burnaby. Margaret took a job with Burnaby Schools as a science aide at Royal Oak Junior High School and worked there until she retired in 1980. Once retired, Margaret and Jim moved to Hopkins Landing on the Sunshine Coast where they spent many years of Coastal life living next door to their long-time friends Betty and Art Kiloh. Margaret enjoyed golf for many years and was a charter member of the Sunshine Coast Golf Club. She was active in the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, now the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary Hopkins Branch, which gave her much pleasure and companionship.
Margaret enjoyed travelling, taking many trips over the years with her travel companion Marion Proulx, to Europe, the Baltics, thru the Panama, Alaska, Yukon, NWT, eastern Canada and the Maritimes.
Survived by her brother David (Jan), daughter Kathie English (Stu), son Bruce, and her pride and joy, granddaughters Christina Willems (Greg), Alicia, Jennifer and Jessica Neilson.
No service by request. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the late spring.
