Harold Lemuel "Junior" Barkhouse - 73, of Gaspereau Mountain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 27, 2015, surrounded by his family in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Harold L. Barkhouse Sr. and Elsie (Hiltz) Barkhouse. He had been a carpenter for 53 years and built homes for his three children. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed a special relationship with his dog, Cash. He is survived by his wife, the former Dianne Elizabeth Pineo; two daughters, Jacqueline (Howard) Kelly, Grand Pré; Debbie (Stephen) Leslie, Kentville; a son, Kirk (Denise Morine), Black River Lake; two sisters, Jean Spencer, Aylesford; Barbara (Donald) Barkhouse, Wolfville Ridge; three brothers, Floyd "Benny" (Vivian), New Minas; Gordon "Gordie" (Joyce), Gaspereau Mountain, Leroy (Sandi), Gaspereau Mountain; three grandchildren, Jody Barkhouse, Kaitlyn Kelly and Evan Leslie. He was predeceased by a sister, June Arnold; a brother, Weldon. There will be no visitation by request. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Harold's special niece, Vikki Barkhouse and the doctors, nurses and staff of the Valley Regional Hospital for their care kindness and compassion.
