Riverton : William Robert Dean age 75 of Riverton Heights ,Riverton passed away on Monday ,December 28th ,2015 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital ,New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow ,he was the son of the late William Ernest “Bill” and Margaret Mary ( Forrestal)(Spanks) Dean
Bill was a former employee of MT&T.
He was a former member of the Militia Corp. where he served as Sargent Major and also served for 2 years in the Canadian Armed Forces.
He was a 42 year member of Br#28 Royal Canadian Legion ,Stellarton
Bill enjoyed dancing and had a multitude of friends from many dances all over Nova Scotia where he was known as smooth Bill. He liked all kinds of music , hunting , fishing and going to the camp with his buddies. He also enjoyed a good game of pool and had a strong independent spirit.
Bill liked to socialize with his large family of friends at Tim Horton’s in Stellarton and was the past owner of Deano’s Restaurant in Stellarton .
He is survived by his son Robert Dean (Angela) of Westville
Step grandchildren Hailey and Tristan of Westville
His former wife Joyce Dean of New Glasgow
Siblings : David Dean of Westville , James (Jimmy) (Kareen) Dean of New Glasgow , Billy Dean of Ont. , Barry Spanks of Abercrombie , Kenney (Heather) Spanks of Australia , Gary Spanks of Trenton ,Nancy Spanks of Trenton
A number of nieces and nephews
Many special dancing friends .
He was predeceased by common-law- partners Cheryl MacArthur and Joyce Dugay
A brother Dennis Spanks
The family would like to thank the multitude of services of the Capital Health QE11 health Science Centre for the professionalism ,caring and compassion though his journey of illnesses.
Also the family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital for their care and compassion.
The family will receive visitors from 7-9 P.M. on Saturday Jan 2nd ,2016
In the H.C.MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel ,Stellarton
Donations in memory of Bill may be made to QE11 Health Sciences Center 7.4 Orthopedic Unit and /or Cardiovascular Surgery and /or 6B Urology Nephrology and /or the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
A gathering will take place at Br #28 Royal Canadian Legion MacKay St. Stellarton after the visitation.
