Karen naDara (Oldford) MacDonald

Lieu de naissance : New Brunswick

Lieu de décès : Glace Bay
Date de décès : 2 janvier 2016

It is with profound sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Karen naDara (Oldford) MacDonald, age 74 on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Brunswick, Karen was the eldest daughter of Joseph and Ethel (Taylor) Oldford.
Karen was a long time employee of Woolworths in Glace Bay, but her real passion was caring for her family.
Karen loved music, dancing and laughing. She provided a loving home for her family and made everyone who entered it feel welcome. Her 'MacDonald' family never saw her as an "in-law". She was their sister as well!
Karen leaves this world a better place for having been in it. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. However, the memories she leaves behind will provide many hours of laughter for the family, which will help lighten the load of grief that overwhelms us today. Karen was an active member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, (Jackie), daughter, Valerie (Freddie) Wadden, two granddaughters, Tanya (Earl) Gracie, Leah (Geoff) MacLellan, four great-grandchildren whom were the light of her life naDara, Liam, Jorja and Daniel.
She is survived also by her brothers, Keith (Eileen), Gordie, Shane (Erva), sisters, Janice, Judy, Kimberly, Lori (Tom) and her stepmother, Barb Oldford. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Karen was predeceased by a sister, Darlene in infancy and brother, Kevin.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Interment will take place at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. Rev. Allan MacLellan will be officiating.
At this time we would like to thank the people that cared for my mother, Dr. O'Brien, the palliative care staff and Laurie Mortimer for all the compassion and direction given to our family at this special time and the nursing staff at 3 South Glace Bay General Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to palliative care or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Online condolences to the family can be expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
