With the same grace in which she lived, and surrounded by much love, Kathleen passed away on January 2, 2016 at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, at the age of 83. She is predeceased by her husband Michael (1993), and her daughter Maureen (2013). Left full of the fondest memories and love are her son Michael (Karen); daughter Andrea Spurrell (Jim); grandchildren: Richard McCormack, Amanda Ryan (Rodney), Andrea Vickers (Shawn), Matthew Kavanagh (Ashley), Nicholas Kavanagh (Heather), and Beth Spurrell. She was blessed with the addition of her many beloved great-grandchildren, and her furry canine foot warmer Abby. Kathleen also leaves two brothers: William Simms, and Ray Simms; sister Elizabeth Bulger; brother-in-law Richard Kenny; sister-in-law Josephine Simms (Mullaly) and many special family and friends with whom she generously shared her wisdom, talents, and love. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at St. Patrick's Church. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are being gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to Daffodil Place.
