It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Cameron McNeil, at the age of 56. Cameron passed away suddenly on Friday, Jan. 1, 2016 at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Michael Francis and Pearl (Wadden) McNeil. An amazing gentleman, Cameron was always there for everyone and there was nothing in life that meant more to him than his family. He and Audrey have been together for over 38 years, spending each day deeply in love and this love built them a beautiful family.
Cameron worked several years locally for Devco in Lingan and Prince Mines. After the closure of these mines, he worked for Quinsam Coal Mine, Vancouver Island, B.C.; Forest Insight and was currently employed with Savage, as manager of the Point Tupper Marine Terminal.
He truly appreciated life; he was an outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hunting, fishing and boating, he also had a love for music and woodworking. But his true love was his family, especially his four cherished grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was loved by everyone who knew him.
Cameron will be sadly missed by his loving family; wife Audrey (McNeil), Port Hawkesbury; son, Blaise (Melissa), Musquodoboit Harbor; daughter, Amanda (Andy), Centerville, Reserve Mines; grandchildren, Jamie, Blaise, Bella, Ainslee; sister, Kay (Cameron) Routledge, Glace Bay; numerous nieces and nephews, especially Rick, Vonda, Wade, Jo-Anne and Jon, who were more like siblings to him. He will also be missed by many friends, neighbors and co-workers.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by sisters, Marlene (Sonny) Cecchetto and Evelyn (Kevin) MacPherson.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
A funeral service, officiated by Fr. Ray Huntley, in celebration of Cameron’s life, will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, in the V.J McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will take place at a later date.
