Jean Lorraine Greene - age 79 years, passed away January 6, 2016. Born in Kentville she was the daughter of the late Charles Cavanagh and Ruth (Barnaby) Cavanagh. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. She was a graduate of Steam Mill Community School and the former Mack Business College, Kentville. She was employed with T.P. Calkins before moving with her husband, Vincent to Digby, NS where they both worked at the Digby Pines Resort. They then moved on to the Town of Bridgewater for a short time before moving back to Kings County to settle in Centreville and raise their family where they made many fond memories one of which was hosting family gatherings after every Apple Blossom parade in May. She was active in the Girl Guide movement taking on the role of Treasurer as well as being a member of the Aldershot Home and School Association. She was a sport enthusiast in her early years playing softball and also participating in a bowling league. She also enjoyed snowmobiling in the wintertime to the top of the North Mountain. She returned to working on a part-time basis at the local community Centreville Grocery store for many years. She is predeceased by her husband, Vincent Greene; brothers, Charles (in infancy) and George; sister, Doris MacLean and brother-in-law, Wilson. She is survived by her son, Eric (Elizabeth), Halifax; daughters, Lorraine (Michael) Boyd, Dartmouth; Nancy Greene, Middleton; grandchildren Harrison, Jacob, Sean, Ryan and Adam; a brother, Raymond (Doreen), Centreville. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville with prayers held at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service and reception was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father John MacPherson officiated. Burial took place in the Serenity Garden Cemetery, Centreville. Donations in memory may be made to Fidelis House Society, The Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or to a charity of your choice.
